Testing out a video

Please let me know if this works or doesn't for you.  I want to see if this will work ok in the future.
Not the best movie, but a 'short' one I wanted to try it out with.

(When you hit comments see the notes about posting.  I know a few of you have said you have problems, so I appreciate knowing that.   Sometimes on other blogs I have to basically 'submit' 3 times before it goes through - it will confirm when it does though. (copy/paste your comment first so you don't lose it.) This can be annoying but isn't a big deal if you know to check for it ) Thanks!!

Easter & more

Time flies ... & I'm just posting again. Tomorrow (today by the time most of you read this) Olivia will be SIX MONTHS OLD!  I still feel like we're just getting used to everything & she's been here half a year already!  Unbelievable!!

Daddy found Olivia's Easter Basket - she tackled it out all
over the ground. Too cute!

Last weekend we had Easter dinner with the Dostals - a big ham dinner & fun talking about the little girls.

Wednesday Dave had classes all day & around 1 or so I thought I might not be feeling well & each hour I felt worse & worse to the point that when he got home at 5:30 I could barely hold Liv on the couch & had a 101.5 temperature.  Whatever it was it hit me & hit me fast!  So basically I had the fingers & toes even ache flu for a couple days & Dave was (luckily) able to help take care of me & Liv.  Thursday morning I could barely even hold her I was aching so much.

We were supposed to go out of town this weekend (part pleasure - part work) but we didn't go.... right now I am grateful for that!

My Aunt Jan & Uncle Jim are in town & we had them over for pizza tonight, but unfortunately Olivia woke up from her last nap really early & was already tired & hungry when they got here & was not about to have people she barely knows hold her. haha! Whatcha gonna do?!

*The past couple of weeks we find her rolling around a lot more (we have to be really careful now to set up barriers in the living room or she can easily roll onto the tile or into trouble)
*She is reaching enough for toys that she's not quite scooting ...(but almost scooting) towards things she wants in front of her sometimes.
* She reaches up & behind her to grab things & is really grasping them.
*Also is getting wiggly & moving a ton on the changing table - always wanting to roll on her belly & flop around all the time.

This morning we finally fed Olivia rice cereal for the first time - we've let her taste some foods before but this was the real deal.  Despite some yucky faces, I thought she actually ate almost all of it. (Daddy says a lot of it went everywhere....)  The interesting thing is that even though she kept eating it she also kept giving yucky faces throughout the entire time too.  Interested to see the reaction tomorrow....

Cheers

Lazy & Busy Weekend

Family Pic!

Friday the guys had some meetings in the morning & then they threw a beach party for families!  Livy looked soo cute in her little bathing suit (She's sleepy in this pic though) despite the throw out fit she had   (good thing the party was less than a mile away - I threw her in the car & ran home because she gets to this overtired point when she just flips like a switch & there's little you can to do calm her down....well that happened at the beach!)  We were out in town beforehand so that combined with the hot hour at the beach was just too much for an overtired baby.  She took a nap here & we went back to meet up with Daddy & chat with others before bed that night.

Saturday we went to the squadron kids' Easter Party.  Here's Livy with the Easter Bunny.  She doesn't seem to notice or care!  ...& here is Daddy pulling her away because the bunny is a silly (or stupid) thing to do. . . .   Then we went home to watch the Red Wings game!

Sunday we hung around the house, read outside on the porch & in the afternoon I took pictures at the hangar with the other spouses' for a little flight suit photo shoot.

All in all this weekend was the opposite as previous weekend in regards to getting things done!  It was nice to make it to several social events though!

Long Weekend

Project Manager - overseeing all the work!

Our long weekend was pretty productive!  Friday we spent all day working on sod (well Dave!)

Saturday we ran errands out in town & had dinner at Dostal's Olivia & Charlotte met for the first time!  These guys have been friends since their freshman year of college & here they are with their daughters who are only 4 months apart! Can you believe it?

I was a cryin' panda as soon as daddy starting taking pictures!

Today we took a walk to the beach & sat around for awhile & just got little stuff done around here.  Olivia took 3-4 naps today which is a complete 180 from the last few days - she wasn't feeling that great or something today because she was a little more cuddly & fussy than normal - & even though she's always putting fingers etc. in her mouth it was just different today.

I don't usually have the boppy pillow on the floor but Liv was lying in it for quite awhile the other day & after I picked her up to feed her we found this:
Little Jealous Stinkpot!

Naps & Sod

Liv has been fighting naps harder than ever.  Yesterday she woke up at 2pm from a 45 min. nap & when it came time to nap again. . . well it didn't work...and still again...and repeat until she finally ate & went to bed at 8!!!  It was crazy!  The day before she fought hard for a couple hours and then cried hard - hard & straight for 40 minutes until she finally fell asleep for a to.the.second 20 minute nap.  That's it!

She's sleeping well overnight - but has been getting up 1-2 times each night in the last couple weeks.

This is me free from a twisted & tangled
encounter with my crib.  I'm still sooo sweepy
but then I was pretty much awake & cuddled
with Daddy for a long time.

Oh!  And she keeps getting stuck in the cracks of her crib - this is not fun. I didn't want to get even the 'breathable bumpers' b/c they're not super safe - but I'm seriously considering it.  Today during her nap she was in a corner on her belly with one leg out the long side & another leg out the short side of the crib & she woke up unable to free herself - heck, I climbed up & over to pick her up safely since they were twisted up & hard to free!

Today we had a few pallets of sod delivered so we're going to be busy this weekend.  Airspace is closed b/c of an airshow - so it's either fly from afar & have to drive a couple hours to do it or have the weekend off. . .  hmmmm..?! :)

Workin' Weekend

Hey Cabrinha - You're in my shot & on my blanket. . . .

Good Morning! Livvy & I are up early this morning. She went to bed about 7:10 last night & was up crying about 10 minutes later, so she ate more & then was down until about 1am - she was fussing & I knew her arm was stuck down the slat of her crib so I got up & freed & fed her (despite the fact that by the time I got to her room she was quiet & sleeping? again, but I was worried about that arm!)
I'm Flying! Weee!

She was up again at 5 to eat.  At 6:15 she was just talking & yelping & making noises that couldn't be ignored. So we're up - we have oatmeal in the oven & started the coffee that Daddy had all prepped last night - I am thankful for that! :)  It was ready to go when I was done putting breakfast in. yay!

Having fun playing with Mommy

This weekend we worked around the house a lot.  And by 'around the house' I mean the yard is completely cleaned up from giant 'banana' leaves, & trees trimmed/branches cut, lawned mowed over several times, new sprinkler hoses in the garden, ETC.  And by 'we' I mean all Dave with a little bit of help from me moving all the branches to the front.   Sure I vacuumed & baked & cleaned the kitchen several times & was with the baby & did laundry - but you just can't really tell.  Wish I would have taken before/after pics of the yard though - Dave worked really hard & it SHOWS!

I LOVE playing with my toes & reaching for both feet too all the time now

I baked donuts on Saturday afternoon & made frittata for lunch on Sunday - both were new to me & I was totally inspired by these two posts.  They were all pretty good.  The donuts weren't very donut-y, but still a good treat-just more dense or something than I'd like.  But, I think I'll just have to keep checking out recipes & trying more.  darn. :)

 Cheers!

5 Months Old

Olivia is 5 Months Old Today!! Wow!

She's grabbing stuff so much better lately & can kind of pass things in between her hands.
She rolls all over & around when we play on the floor.
When a toy falls from where she can grab she's starting to get pretty upset.
She only takes about 3 30 minute naps each day lately.  (She needs more!)  & has made her bedtime earlier to make up for the lack of sleep.
Her hair is getting a little bit longer.
She tends to flip on her belly lately at night when she's sleeping, or if she's fussing & rolls on her belly she'll fall asleep quickly.  She stopped rolling all around for awhile but is back to it when she's awake or throughout the night.
She cries when daddy has 'weekend whiskers' & gives her kisses.
She's showing an interest & watches us when we're eating.  & loves to grab at my coffee cup while I'm sipping it.
Cabrinha is very interesting to her!  I can't get her to look at me most of the time, but if Cabrinha is sitting or walking near by she turns her head & she smiles! :)  (Fortunately, Cabrinha is starting to show a bit more interest in her & 'kisses' her a lot more now, but I'm not convinced she's loving having a baby sister around yet.  Wait until we have Cheerios dropping to the floor D. always says.) :)

I'm terrible at these weeks/months pictures.  there are about 10 weeks out of 22ish that are missing.  Ooops.  ... and it only gets 'worse' as you have more kids??  Oh dear, I'm sorry future kids!  I just forget.  or am too lazy.  or the time just slips past faster than a banana.  ?! I don't know.  Either way, at least we'll have some to celebrate with if I ever make a scrap book for her. :)  Think I might definitely switch to just 'months' from now on & wish I would have done that from the start.

Cheers!
